Our Evaluation Process
Step 1
Initial Screening
Appointment (Virtual)
Your first appointment is a virtual
screening with one of our psychiatric
providers. During this visit, we'll
review developmental history,
symptoms, medical history, and
determine whether a comprehensive
autism evaluation is appropriate.
Pricing & Insurance:
Your Initial Screening
We will bill your insurance for the initial
screening appointment whenever possible.
If you are uninsured or choose not to use
insurance, the self-pay fee is $75.
If autism is not suspected after the screening, no additional testing
is recommended.
Steps 2-4
Comprehensive
Autism Evaluation
If a full evaluation is recommended,
you'll complete three additional
appointments that may include:
-
Comprehensive clinical interview
-
Developmental history
-
Standardized autism assessment tools
-
Parent/caregiver interview (when applicable)
-
Review of previous records
-
Diagnostic formulation
-
Feedback appointment
-
Written diagnostic report
-
Individualized recommendations
Our goal is to ensure every patient receives a thoughtful, evidence-based evaluation that provides meaningful answers.
Pricing & Insurance:

evaluation when appropriate.
Why We Use This Evaluation Model
We believe families deserve clear information about costs.
We will explain what to expect and what is included before we begin.
At Occult Mental Health, we believe an autism evaluation
should be thorough, individualized, and never rushed.
Unfortunately, many commercial insurance plans do not adequately reimburse providers for the time and expertise required to perform these comprehensive evaluations.
Rather than shortening the evaluation or limiting
the quality of care to meet insurance restrictions,
we have chosen a model that allows us to provide
the highest standard of assessment.
